Setting: Melbourne Lockdown 4.0
Long worked for projects dramatically cancelled, home schooling engaged, travel restricted, my time no longer mine.
Mood: Deep frustration
Some might even say morose.
Intervention: A Wall Dance!
I know right, who would have thought that wall dancing was a thing…?! It’s one of the most delicious Somatic Interventions I can recommend. There’s no disputing the nourishment of touch. The feeling of giving weight, being held, sliding, pressing, receiving feedback as you travel across and roll around the soft surfaces of you.
Effect: Stimulation, Regulation, Transformation
Gentle conscious touch helps to regulate the nervous system - bring down sympathetic charge and activate the vagus nerve engaging a calming parasympathetic response. This is the good stuff.
Here is an opportunity to process and move emotions, steady mood, deepen breath, expand perspective and land in the richness of now. It also provides a delightful exploration in planes and pathways not often travelled on a regular day. Imagine what that does for dynamic dexterous thinking, creativity and vitality!
*NB: No prior experience needed...
And there’s no shortage of walls, no one else is required and it doesn’t take longer than 2 minutes unless you’d like it too - simple hey!
